With deep gratitude WhyHunger gives special thanks to Yoko Ono Lennon for playing a vital role in our Hungerthon tradition. Eighteen years ago, Mrs. Lennon generously allowed WhyHunger to use Imagine There’s No Hunger, along with John Lennon’s self-portrait and signature, as our Hungerthon theme and logo. Since 2008, WhyHunger has joined forces with Hard Rock International to create IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER, a global campaign to combat childhood hunger and poverty around the world. With the support of Mrs. Lennon, we have raised more than $4.5 million dollars to help communities grow enough food to provide more than 5.5 million meals to children in 15 different countries and teach thousands of others techniques for sustained food production for a future free of hunger.
